Dental Curing Lights from Orthdent

A curing light is the handpiece that hardens light-cured materials - composite resin, bonding agents, sealants and some cements. In practice the light decides how well a restoration sets, so the wavelength, the intensity and the way the tip reaches the tooth all matter.

  • Wavelength. Light-cured dental materials are formulated for the blue part of the spectrum, so the light has to emit in the right band to activate the photo-initiator in the material.
  • Intensity and curing time. Higher output cures in a shorter time. Units are commonly described by their curing time - a "1-second" light is a high-output unit.
  • Wired or wireless. Corded lights never need charging and hold their output; cordless lights are easier to handle but depend on battery condition.
  • Tip and coverage. The tip has to reach the restoration and cover enough surface, and it has to be kept clean - a contaminated tip reduces the light that reaches the material.
  • Modes. Multi-mode units offer different curing programs (standard, soft-start, pulse) so you can control how fast the material sets.

Orthdent supplies dental curing lights to clinics, practices and laboratories. Browse the listing above for the units currently in stock, and contact us if you need a model that is not shown.
