A whitening lamp is an accelerator: it speeds up the action of the bleaching agent already applied to the teeth. What matters in practice is even coverage, controllable intensity, and a light spectrum that matches the material you are using.

Number and layout of LEDs. More LEDs and a wider array cover more of the arch in one pass, which shortens the appointment and reduces the chance of an uneven result.
Adjustable intensity. Multi-level brightness lets you match the output to the bleaching agent and to the patient's sensitivity, rather than applying one fixed dose to everyone.
Spectrum. Units that offer more than one wavelength band can be used with different bleaching systems, and coloured light is also used to verify shade changes during treatment.
Mounting. Some units are designed to work with a dental chair; others are free-standing. Match this to how your surgery is set up.
