Retainers and Teeth Trainers from Orthdent

This category collects the removable appliances that hold a result after orthodontic treatment, and the trainers that guide mild misalignment at home. Both are worn in the mouth, both are usually made from flexible silicone or a similar material, and both depend on one thing above all else: regular wear.

  • 3-stage teeth trainers. Progressively firmer, colour-coded trainers - soft, medium and hard - that a patient moves up through as the mouth adapts. Soft is normally used first.
  • Retainers. Removable appliances worn after treatment to hold teeth in their new position.
  • Night guards. Worn overnight to protect teeth from grinding and clenching.

Orthdent supplies retainers and trainers to clinics, practices, distributors and directly to patients. Browse the listing above, and see the product pages for the stage-by-stage instructions.

Common questions

How long do you wear each stage of a teeth trainer? In the Orthdent 3-stage trainer, Stage 1 (soft) is normally worn for about 4-5 weeks, Stage 2 (medium) for about 6-8 weeks, and Stage 3 (hard) for about 6-12 months. Move up when the current stage feels comfortable rather than tight.

How long each day? A common routine is 1-2 hours during the day and about 8 hours at night.

Can a teeth trainer replace braces? No. A trainer is for mild misalignment and for holding a result after treatment. It is not a substitute for professional orthodontic treatment, and individual results vary.

How do you clean a silicone trainer? Rinse in cool or lukewarm water - never hot or boiling water, which can warp the material and change the fit - and brush gently with a soft toothbrush.
