Endodontic Equipment from Orthdent

Root canal treatment is a sequence of small, controlled movements, and the equipment is what makes those movements repeatable. Two pieces matter most: the motor that drives the file, and the system that fills the canal once it is shaped.

  • Endo motors. A dedicated endo motor gives you controlled, adjustable torque and speed, which is what keeps a rotary file turning at the rate the system was designed for. Higher-end units add auto-reverse and auto-stop when torque limits are reached.
  • Gear ratio and contra-angle. Endo motors are usually supplied with a reduction contra-angle (for example 16:1) that converts the motor's rotation into the low speed and higher torque the file needs.
  • Cordless or corded. Cordless motors remove the cable and are easier to move between rooms, but battery condition becomes part of your routine.
  • Programs and presets. Multi-program motors let you store settings per file system instead of dialling them in for every case.
  • Obturation. A heated fill system - a cordless pen or a gun - softens and delivers the filling material into the shaped canal, with the plugger compacting it.

Orthdent supplies endodontic equipment to clinics, endodontic practices and laboratories. Browse the listing above for what is currently in stock, and contact us if you need a model that is not shown.

Common questions

What does 16:1 mean on an endo motor? It is the gear ratio of the contra-angle head: the motor turns sixteen times for every one turn of the file. That converts a fast, low-torque motor into the slow, higher-torque rotation a rotary file needs.

Do I need a dedicated endo motor, or can I use my normal handpiece motor? A dedicated endo motor gives you controlled torque and speed with limits and auto-reverse, which is what protects the file. A general micro-motor does not give you that control.

What is an obturation system for? It is the filling stage. The heated unit softens gutta-percha so it can be carried into the shaped canal and compacted, giving a dense seal.

What should I check before buying? Voltage and plug type, the file systems and ratios you actually use, and whether the unit comes with the reduction contra-angle or needs it separately.
