Orthdent Dental Sectional Matrix Ring Clamp – Nickel Titanium, Universal / Narrow / Deep, 1Pc
- ORTHDENT NITI SECTIONAL MATRIX RING CLAMP - UNIVERSAL / NARROW / DEEP, 1PC
- - Shape Memory Nickel Titanium
- The ring springs back to its formed shape after every placement, so the separating force it puts on the matrix stays constant through the whole restoration instead of fading the way a bent steel ring does.
- - Three Contours, Not Three Sizes of the Same Thing
- Universal, Narrow and Deep are shaped for different proximal situations - a routine box, a tight contact, a deep subgingival margin. You pick the contour that matches the cavity.
- - Holds the Matrix Against the Tooth
- The ring presses the sectional band flat against the preparation, so there is no gap at the gingival margin and no overhang to trim afterwards. A ring that relaxes mid-fill is where flash comes from.
- - Nickel Titanium, Not Stainless
- NiTi keeps its spring through repeated steam cycles. Stainless rings work-harden and lose tension.
- - One Piece Per Pack
- Sold as a single ring, so a clinic replaces only the contour that gets used up.
- - Wholesale and Mixed Orders
- Universal, Narrow and Deep combine in one order. Bulk pricing and private label - WhatsApp +86 13526876982.
Orthdent Nickel Titanium Sectional Matrix Ring Clamp
A single-piece sectional matrix ring clamp made from nickel-titanium shape-memory alloy. The ring delivers a stable, continuous clamping force that separates the teeth slightly and holds a contoured sectional band tight against the proximal box, so you get a clean, tight contact point instead of an open margin.
Three Sizes, Colour Coded
| Variant | Ring colour | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Universal | Blue | Standard posterior Class II preparations, the everyday default |
| Narrow | Dark blue | Tight contacts, premolars and narrow interproximal spaces |
| Deep | Yellow brown | Deep subgingival margins and larger proximal boxes |
Suitable for sectional contoured bands in 5 mm and 6 mm heights.
Why Nickel Titanium
- Shape memory alloy — the ring returns to its original geometry after every placement, so the clamping force stays the same from the first case to the hundredth.
- Stable separating force — enough to open a tight contact, gentle enough to avoid patient discomfort.
- Good retention — the band stays seated while you place the wedge, etch, bond and cure.
- Outstanding strength — resists deformation from repeated bending and sterilisation cycles.
Sterilisation
Fully autoclavable at 135 °C. Clean and dry the ring before each cycle. Do not use cold sterilants that leave residue on the alloy.
How to Use
- Place the sectional contoured band and secure it with a wedge.
- Seat the ring so both tips sit in the interproximal embrasures, contacting the band on the proximal surface.
- Confirm the band is tight against the tooth with no gap at the gingival margin.
- Etch, bond, place composite, cure, then remove the ring and wedge before finishing the contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which size should I order first?
Start with Universal. It covers most posterior Class II cases. Add Narrow for premolars and tight contacts, and Deep for subgingival margins.
Will one ring fit both 5 mm and 6 mm bands?
Yes. The ring height works with both band heights; choose the variant by the width and depth of the proximal box, not by band height.
Can it be autoclaved?
Yes, up to 135 °C. It is reusable after sterilisation.
How many pieces are in one pack?
One ring per pack. Order three packs to cover Universal, Narrow and Deep.
Is this a medical device?
It is a dental consumable intended for use by trained dental professionals. Read the instructions before first use.
How do I choose between Universal, Narrow and Deep?
Choose by the width and depth of the proximal box, not by band height. Universal (UN-01, marked 3.6 mm) is the default for standard posterior Class II preparations. Narrow (UN-02, marked 2.6 mm) fits premolars and tight interproximal contacts where a standard ring will not seat. Deep (UN-03, marked 2.8 mm) reaches subgingival margins and larger proximal boxes. Most clinics start with Universal and add the other two for the cases it will not cover.
How do I tell the three sizes apart once the box is open?
Two markers, both fixed by the variant. The box label carries the name, the UN code and a colour bar, light blue for Universal, dark blue for Narrow and yellow brown for Deep. The PEEK pads are teal on Universal and Narrow and ivory on Deep. The pad colour is set per variant, so the size you select from the variant selector determines the colour you receive.
Is a sectional matrix ring clamp the same as a separation ring?
Largely yes. In everyday use, sectional matrix ring, separation ring, matrix ring clamp and clamp ring all describe the same Class II instrument, a nickel-titanium ring that presses a contoured sectional band against the proximal box and holds the contact while you restore. Orthdent lists this model as a sectional matrix ring clamp.
