Passive self-ligating buccal tubes for the 1st molar, in Roth or MBT 0.022. The base is an 80-mesh pad that has been sandblasted before bonding, so the adhesive has something to grip instead of a smooth stamped face. Four tubes per kit – a full 1st molar set.

Sandblasted mesh base: where the bond actually comes from

A bondable tube is only as good as the interface between its base and the adhesive. A smooth base asks the adhesive to hold by surface chemistry alone, and the first contaminated spot becomes the failure point.

Sandblasting roughens that face and opens up the mesh surface, so the adhesive flows in and locks mechanically. The result is a base that grips across its whole area rather than at a thin film – which is what keeps a tube on through the heavier wires of the second half of treatment, and what cuts re-bond appointments.

Passive self-ligating: fewer parts, less friction

There is no ligature wire and no elastomeric to tie in. A passive slide retains the archwire in the slot, which means two things chair-side: nothing to ligate at the tube, and low friction while the wire is sliding during alignment.

Low friction matters most in the alignment phase, where a bound-down wire stalls expression. On a passive design the wire can travel through the tube instead of being pinned at the molar.

Built for the chair

Laser-welded body. Tube and base are welded into one body, so there is no solder joint to fatigue under load.

Numbered cap. The quadrant number is marked on the cap – pick the right tube off the tray without checking it against the light.

Bite indentation. A recessed platform keeps the tube clear of the opposing teeth in deeper bites.

Bond with your standard orthodontic adhesive following the adhesive manufacturer's etch and primer protocol. Keep the sandblasted face dry and untouched before seating – finger contact on the mesh is the most common cause of a weak bond, and it defeats the point of blasting it. Store the kit sealed, away from moisture.
